This service is led by Rebecca Corney, a Chartered Counselling Psychologist registered with the British Psychological Society and the Health and Care Professions Council. She is also a qualified Dramatherapist.
Rebecca worked in the NHS for seventeen years, holding the post of senior psychologist in specialist services for Ageing and Mental Health. Currently, she is working full time in her private practice in North West London where she treats a broad range of mental health problems with individuals, couples and families across the lifespan.
Rebecca prefers working using a systemic therapy approach and she is an accredited systemic practitioner, having completed the Foundation and Intermediate Certificate in Systemic practice. She is trained in CBT and psychodynamic therapies and draws on these approaches when helpful.
Rebecca is able to undertake complex cognitive and mental capacity assessments and staff consultations in nursing homes. She has broad teaching experience and is involved in the development of staff training programmes in nursing homes and in their delivery. Rebecca has been a visiting lecturer on a Doctorate of Clinical Psychology training course since 2010 as well as involved in teaching medical staff in hospital settings for several years. Rebecca is also a mentor for Year 12 students on the JUMP programme, enabling students to be mentored by a professional in their chosen career.
Rebecca offers clinical supervision to psychologist colleagues and other professionals in their practice.
Rebecca is recognised as a Specialist provider by BUPA, AVIVA, WPA and AXA insurance companies.
